Franciscan Health Race for Kids 5K Run/Walk

Join us for the 2024 Race for Kids on June 1 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. Fun Family activities start at 8:30am, 5K starts at
9:30, and ceremony at 10:15 am. Scroll down for more details.

Come out for a family fun day that raises awareness and funds for our
Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and our Pediatric Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy departments. Since 2016, the race for kids has raised over $160,000 to assist patients with miscellaneous cost, purchase equipment such as AngelEye cameras, baby simulator, and therapy swings.

Here is an inspiritational story of the hard work children do every week in therapy:

At the end of 2022, 13-year-old Matthew Adkins accidently fell
off a 50-foot cliff. Matthew sustained a serious traumatic brain injury.

Once home, Matthew started his long and difficult road to recovery with
our physical, occupational, and speech therapists.
Throughout 2023, Matthew spent countless hours every week
learning how to walk, talk, and live life as he once did.
Only 9 months after his accident, Matthew set a goal to join
the cross-country team and race.
With the help of his therapists and his own determination,
he not only met his goal but surpassed it by completing
every single race he competed in.

So please consider joining or simply donating to the Race for Kids, so Franciscan Health can continue to impact lives of children just like Matthew.

This year's activities will include a:

5K Run/Walk (in-person or virtual)
Kid's Dash, a non-competitive 50-yard dash free to children under the age of 10
Butterfly Release allowing families to honor and remember a lost baby or child
NICU Reunion which renuites patients, families, and caregivers of the NICU
Healthy Family Fun Fair free fair featuring fun, kid friendly activities at each table
Boilermaker Special, food trucks, balloon artist, face painter, and more

Remember all proceeds will directly support our organization's mission to help support and assist our patients. For every step you tak and every dollar you raise, you are helping Franciscan Health's smallest fighters. Together we can make a difference!

ENTRY FEES/DEADLINES
5K Run/Walk (In-person or Virtual) before April 29th: $25
5K Run/Walk (In-Person or Virtual) after April 29th: $30
Children Under 10: Free
Kids Dash Children under 10: Free
Additional Butterflies: $5 each

All registration types include a race t-shirt and 1 butterfly for the release.
Please register by Monday, May 10th to guarantee a race shirt and butterfly.

FUNDRAISING
Create a personalized fundraising team and share it with family and friends to win one of the awards!
- Any team that raises $500 or more will receive a yard sign dedicated to or in honor of the fighter in their life.
- Any team that raises $750 or more will receive a complimentary family photo session
- The team that raises the most money will receive a billboard recognizing them as the winning team.

Remember all proceeds will go directly back to our organization's mission to help support and assist our patients. For every step you take and every dollar you raise, you are helping Franciscan Health smallest fighters. Together we can make a difference!

- Ribbons will be awarded to all children who participate in the Kids Dash.

EARLY PACKET PICK UP
Want to pick up your race day packet (bib, t-shirt, etc.) before the race?

Then stop by our Franciscan Health Central campus parking lot across from the parking garage off Tippecanoe Street on Friday, May 31st between 4-7pm.

*All butterflies will be given out day of at the butterfly table.

IMPORTANT: HOW TO PARTICIPATE AND SUBMIT YOUR TIME FOR THE VIRTUAL RUN

Please download the IYR Virtual Mobile App on App Store or Google Play and read the instructions here:

This app will allow you to run your virtual race and automatically track your pace, distance, and overall time. The app will recognize the race distance that you registered for and will automatically stop your session at the appropriate distance (eg 3.1 miles for a 5K virtual race) and send your results in. It's the closest thing you can get to running a real race!
